One hundred years ago, bowing to public pressure the identity of David Grayson was finally announced in The Bookman. The magazine revealed that David Grayson is Ray Standard Baker. Newspapers across the country talked about the “unmasking” of David Grayson. One newspaper declared that “the great literary secret of the decade is out.” There were many guesses as to who David Grayson was but one reported says that “nobody thought that the fire-eating muckraker, Ray Standard Baker, could write anything so mild and spiritual.”
