Robert Francis and Poems to a Listener
Poems to a Listener, a public radio series of readings and conversation with contemporary poets, originated at WFCR in 1976 and was carried by some sixty NPR stations. Robert Francis was the featured poet on the opening program and several others over the years. The following excerpts are taken from his last program, recorded in 1986 at Fort Juniper, his three-room, one-story home in the Cushman section of Amherst. Some of these excerpts were heard on NPR’s All Things Considered in April, 2007.
