Description

A boy stands facing a stone tracing a finger of the inscription which reads: "At this well April 19 1775 James Hayward of Acton (?)et a British soldier and raising his gun said you are a dead man and so are you replied Hayward both fired the soldier was instantly killed & Hayward mortally wounded." A house stands in the background and some bare trees dot the landscape with a mountains fairly visible in the background.
