Louis Foods grocery store and the Roberts Block after the moving and remodelling of Elm Tree Inn. Louis Foods stood about where the CVS store was constructed in 1997. The Elm Tree Inn building is still visible as part of the reconstructed Roberts Block.

Keily Brothers Ford Sales and Service is on the left and the Jones Library, when it was in operation in the Whipple House, is on the right. Next to the Jones Library is the delicatessen of Louis Pappas, and next to that is the house in which Pappas lived and ran the Amherst Tavern (which became the Elm Tree Inn by 1940).

The large building next to Louis Foods was the Elm Tree Inn. It was purchased by Everett Roberts in 1948 from the owner, Louis Pappas. It was subsequently moved back and to the right and remodeled to form the Roberts Block.

Photograph of the owners and employees of Paige's Garage standing before the gas pumps. This was a Socony station. Socony was a shortened name for Standard Oil Company of New York. The horse Pegasus, the oil company logo, is visible on the pumps and on the building. The men are, left to right: Howard Paige, Melrose Paige, William Casey, and Dick Hamilton. The Post Office can be seen in the background.
